Physics 100 Lab Exam

You will design and conduct an experiment that deals with springs, as in Lab 4. But this time you’re going to see how two springs behave in combination, linked together in parallel (side by side) or in series (end to end). You may want to review the relationship between the force exerted by a spring and the extension of a spring. The equation is F = kx, where F is the force, x is the extension, and k is a constant known as the stiffness or spring constant.

You will have 55 minutes to work: from 10:30 to 11:25, 11:30 to 12:25, 1:30 to 2:25, or 2:30 to 3:25. I’d like a maximum of 10 students in each hour. We will decide which hour works best for you in class; if you can’t make it, email me.
